Dear Mother - What is there to say?
On this, your very special day.
You cared for me all of my life.
Through happy times and those of strife.
From the time when I was small.
When you appeared to be so tall.
The many nights you stayed awake.
Through measles, colds and fever aches.
To school, to church and everywhere.
You taught me how to say a prayer.
The park, and the library too.
We did it all, just me and you.
The doll I got on Christmas morn.
The Christmas tree it did adorn.
To give to me you went without.
To bring me magic I've no doubt.
You taught me what was right and wrong.
You raised me to be very strong.
To persevere and to survive.
Because of you I am alive.
There were so many times back then.
I made mistakes time and again.
And though you did not quite agree.
You still stood by my side with me.
When there was no one else around.
And I was feeling low and down.
You gave me strength to carry on.
Reminding me there'd be a dawn.
You babysat my sons all day.
Something I never can repay.
So I could work without concern.
To pay the bills, I had to earn.
Back and forth you used to go.
In rain and cold and winter snow.
So that I could support my boys.
You put up with the stress and noise.
You helped me raise them to be true.
I'll always owe all this to you.
They grew up to be straight and tall.
I thank you for this above all.
So now I care for you the same.
Because you bare that special name.
Comparison - there is no other.
Greater than the name of 'Mother.'
